Project description:

Biostrom Oberhausen GmbH & Co. KG operates a biomass cogeneration plant on the premises of Energieversorgung Oberhausen AG (HKW II). There is already a gas cogeneration plant in operation, as well as a gas turbine for power generation and other steam boilers. The purpose of the biomass heating plant is the generation of electricity and heat, working with overheated steam as the operating medium according to the principle of cogeneration (CHP).

In general, the biomass cogeneration plant consists of a high-pressure steam boiler with an output of 12.15 MWth as well as a steam turbine with a max. output of 3.2 MWel and a max. heat output of approx. 9 MWth, which can be decoupled.

The electricity produced by the steam turbine is fed to the power grid of the local distribution system operator (EVO Energie-Netz GmbH) and the simultaneously produced heat is supplied to EVO’s district heating system.”
