Project description:

The cogeneration plant consists of 2 biomass-fired thermal oil boiler lines (design 13 bar / 340°C,12.7 MWth each), which supply a ORC turbine (Turboden 26 CHP) each. The turbine is equipped with a synchronous generator (2.6 MWel each, 5.2 MWel in total). The generated approx. 30 MW of heat is fed into the connected district heating system of the city of Hilleroed.

During the planning and construction of the whole boiler and energy generation plant, special attention was paid to a highly efficient operation. Besides other things, a flue gas condensation plant, a heat pump for return temperature increase (screw compressor) as well as the recirculation of several sources of waste heat were planned and integrated in the entire plant, in order to use all energy flows. This allows for overall efficiencies of up to 117%.

The fuel logistics have also been fully automated: a weighbridge, fuel unloading areas and loading cranes are integrated in the whole plant control and operate fully automatic. Commissioning took place in 2016/2017.
