This 4,000 kW thermal oil boiler plant with a hydraulic reciprocating step grate firing and an ORC module was one of the first plants of this type in Finland. 720 kWel are produced by the ORC module. The plant’s waste heat is used for district heating; the produced electricity is fed into the public grid. The location of the plant is in Lapland, a region in which the outside temperature is below 0 °C for more than 6 months a year.
The cogeneration plant is operated using forest wood chips and bark.
