Combustion system: hydraulic reciprocating step grate

Fuel: wood chips from waste wood, bark

Year of construction: 2005

Location: Netherlands

Project description:

The biomass plant in Goor, Netherlands, consists of a biomass-fired steam boiler with an unregulated steam superheater which feeds a steam turbine. The turbine is designed as a condensing turbine. In the exterior area there is a recooling plant to precipitate the turbine steam in the condenser.

Waste wood is used as fuel. The strict emission limits, in conjunction with the challenging fuel, are permanently complied with using the appropriate filtration technology (a fabric filter with dry sorption) and a SNCR plant with addition of urea after the combustion process (reaction temperature 900 – 1000°C). All significant components in the flue gas are monitored via online emission measurements in the chimney.

During the planning and construction of the whole boiler and energy generation plant, special attention was paid to highly efficient operation as well as operational safety. The boiler plant was designed for operation without constant supervision (24h).
